LOCAL CHARITY, ‘BUCKINGHAMSHIRE MIND’ BOOSTED BY £73,740 GRANT FROM LLOYDS BANK FOUNDATION

Buckinghamshire Mind will be able to provide more help to local people with mental health issues, with the help of a £73,740 grant over three years from Lloyds Bank Foundation. The charity supports people in recovering and sustaining good mental health, and will put their grant towards the salary of their Chief Executive, who will lead them in developing new services and improving the impact they have on the community.

Buckinghamshire Mind is a beacon of hope for hundreds of people using their services. The charity helps people overcome the difficulties including anxiety, depression and personality disorders that can lead to isolation in the community, making it difficult to lead independent lives. With the help of the grant from Lloyds Bank Foundation, more people can get the help and support needed to make a full recovery from the issues they face.

Andrea McCubbin, CEO of Buckinghamshire Mind, said:

We are delighted that the Lloyds Bank Foundation has chosen to invest in our organisation. Over the past 2 months we have developed an ambitious 3 year growth strategy that outlines how we will be supporting 20,000 per year living in Buckinghamshire by 2019. This funding will directly support the delivery of that target – helping people with mental health problems live safe, purposeful and fulfilled lives – ensuring that they thrive.

Paul Streets, CEO of Lloyds Bank Foundation, said:

“As highlighted in our recent research, small and medium-sized charities have been hit hardest by changes to public funding yet at the same time, demand for their services has risen. We are more committed than ever to providing vital funding to charities like Buckinghamshire Mind, allowing them to grow and thrive, and to reach and help the people that really rely on them.”

The £73,740 grant made to Buckinghamshire Mind was one of 90 grants totalling £4,014,903 made to small and medium-sized charities across England and Wales in the first of three annual grant rounds, including nine grants totalling £431,248 awarded across the South East of England.

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is the largest corporate foundation in the UK and an independent charity funded by Lloyds Banking Group as part of the Helping Britain Prosper Plan.
