Buckinghamshire Mind has received a significant donation from Universal Care, which provides live-in and daily care in the home. Every year, office staff at Universal Care nominate a charity as beneficiary of a £10,000 donation from the organisation and this year they have chosen Buckinghamshire Mind.

The difference that this donation could make to the lives of people with mental health problems in the county is best illustrated by this comment from one of our service users:

“Thank you to all the Bucks Mind staff for getting me to where I am now. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know where I’d be. They’ve really helped me so much. If anyone is experiencing mental health problems and needs to come to Bucks Mind’s services then they definitely should come because it really will help.”

On 28th March, Kaya Mallinder from Buckinghamshire Mind was presented with the cheque by Annette Dealey on behalf of Universal Care staff. The Chairman of South Bucks District Council, Councillor Dr Wendy Matthews, was also present because Buckinghamshire Mind is her Chosen Charity during her term of office.

Universal Care are also supporting Buckinghamshire Mind by displaying our logo on their all-electric smart car, named ‘Betsy’.

“Our staff chose Buckinghamshire Mind because they wanted to support such a worthy organisation covering all aspects of mental health in the Buckinghamshire area.”

Peter Cullimore, Chairman of Universal Care

“We are very grateful for this significant donation from Universal Care. Buckinghamshire Mind supports and represents people with mental health problems living across the county by providing high quality community based mental health services. We are responsible for our own funding and the services we provide, so we rely on donations and grants from local businesses and other organisations to ensure the continuation of our vital work. This contribution from Universal Care really will make a difference to people’s lives.”

Andrea McCubbin, Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire Mind
