The Employment Support Service is designed to help individuals build up their confidence, self-esteem and motivation around getting back into the work place. We provide a person-centered service and create a tailor-made employment journey for each client.

The service provides many different activities, such as Bucks Adult Learning courses, information, advice, guidance, one-to-ones and peer support. In February 2017, we ran an eight-week Mindfulness course, which was aimed at providing clients with the skills and tools to overcome barriers to employment.

We have also been running an employment peer support group since November 2016, where people help each other in their search for employment, through motivating and inspiring one another.

Paul’s story:

Paul has recently undertaken a voluntary role with Buckinghamshire Mind in Chesham, with responsibility for banking donations and fees.

When he first started, Paul was rather nervous and anxious but was determined to help us with this task. Now he has been doing it for several months, he has grown in confidence and has stepped out of his comfort zone.

Through volunteering with us he has further developed his personal and work skills, while in a supportive environment, which will help him in the future when he feels ready to move in to employment.
