Time to Talk

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Time to Talk is a confidential counselling service available free of charge to young people* and at affordable rates for adults in Buckinghamshire.

Our counselling team is made up of paid professionals and volunteers. All our counsellors are carefully chosen; trained to work with young people and adults and are fully qualified or in the advanced stages of their counselling training. They all receive supervision, are fully insured and abide by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) code of ethics.

We practice counselling through a variety of therapeutic models including person-centred or psychodynamic approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and others. We offer a mixture of open-ended counselling where there is no fixed limit to the number of sessions offered at the outset, and a fixed number of sessions – usually between 6 and 12.

We can provide face-to-face, online and telephone counselling.

*Free to young people aged 11 to 19 or up to 25 if you have special needs. From £10 an hour for adults aged 19 or over.

Our counsellors provide a professional, confidential space for you to explore your concerns, including family, relationships, school, exams, stress, anxiety, drugs, anger, bereavement, bullying, depression, low self-esteem, disability, illness, self-harm, abuse and more.

The first step to getting support is to fill out a referral form. You can complete the form yourself online, or your doctor, school, parent or another agency can complete the form on your behalf, with your permission.

Once we receive a referral form we will contact you to make arrangements for you to meet one of our team for an initial assessment. During the assessment you will talk to a qualified and experienced counselling co-ordinator who will answer any questions that you have and explain how we work.

After your assessment you will be placed on a waiting list while your counselling co-ordinator arranges the right counsellor for you.
