We are delighted to announce that Buckinghamshire Mind has been chosen as one of the two charities to benefit from the proceeds of this year’s Marlow Half Marathon. We are extremely grateful to Marlow Striders, who organise the event, for their wonderful support.

The Marlow Half Marathon will be held on Sunday 4th November from 9.30am and is open to seasoned athletes and new runners. This is a great community event as well as an established fixture in the local running calendar.

In addition to the ever-popular half marathon, the Marlow 7 (a seven-mile race) will also be held on the same day, for those who are not quite ready for the longer distance.

Each year the Marlow Striders select local charities to benefit from the proceeds of their events. Since 1990 the Marlow Half Marathon and Marlow 7 have raised over £180,000 for local charities.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as one of this year’s beneficiaries of the Marlow Half Marathon and Marlow 7,” says Andrea McCubbin, Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire Mind. “There are clear benefits of physical activity for mental health wellbeing. Buckinghamshire Mind has just joined the Get Set to Go programme, funded by Sport England, which helps people to find the right activity for them, whether it’s taking part in a half-marathon or starting a chair-based exercise class.”

Marlow Striders’ races are known for being well organised and enjoying great crowd support and atmosphere. You will find lots of our supportive and cheery marshals around the course, making your race that little bit easier.
