The Prevention Matters programme has been running since May 2013. Buckinghamshire Mind delivers the service in High Wycombe, Aylesbury Central and Aylesbury South.

We offer a free and friendly service linking adults in Buckinghamshire to local resources, volunteers and community services.

Our service provides help and support in a wide variety of ways. For example, Community Practice Worker (CPW) Claire, introduced one of our clients, Maria, to the Age UK Befriending Service. Maria was feeling isolated and lonely following the loss of her husband. However, she is now feeling optimistic and looks forward to seeing her Befriender once a week, with whom she has become great friends. Claire also identified the need for walking aids within Maria’s home and she now as an indoor walking frame and aids in the bathroom, which make it easier for her to live alone.

What our service users say:

“Prevention Matters is excellent, they are lovely and kind people. It is nice to be recognised.”

“I am thankful that a service like Prevention Matters exists, as I feel like I have someone looking out for me.”

“My CPW at Prevention Matters has worked really hard providing me with the support I need.”
