Mind the Gap Bucks

Welcome to Mind The Gap Bucks.  We are a peer-support group offering social and activity groups for people experiencing  mental health difficulties and social isolation. We are based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire with social and activity groups in Wycombe and Chesham.

People often find themselves falling through a gap in the services provided. They cannot access available services as they are too well to meet existing criteria, but not well enough to continue their recovery without support.

As a self-support group we offer  people the opportunity to enjoy a social life, play sports, make new friends and support one another in their recovery.

About us

After seven successful years, Mind the Gap Bucks has now been incorporated into Buckinghamshire Mind’s peer-support services. Mind the Gap Bucks’ groups will remain the same and we hope to expand our services to other locations and times in the coming year.

Core Aims and Values

Mission Statement;

  • To offer social and activity groups to people over the age of 18 living with mental health difficulties and social isolation without the need to meet any criteria, or requiring any referral.

Core Aims and Values;

  • Affordable – keep prices low so we’re accessible to everyone, including those on low incomes and benefits.
  • Open to All – no referral is required, if you feel you need our groups’ support then you are welcome to come along.
  • Self support – providing a safe and friendly environment where people support each other in their recovery.

Comments from our members, past and present

When I joined Mind the Gap Bucks’ badminton group 3 years ago I met a welcoming, friendly, supportive group of people of all abilities. I’ve had a lot of fun playing badminton and become more confident. Playing here improved my skills hugely and now I enjoy playing in other groups as well. This has been very beneficial for my mental health and I have developed a real interest in the game so, thank you Mind the Gap Bucks! (J)

Mind the Gap Bucks has helped immensely to increase my confidence in social environments, which in turn helped me into employment. (R)

The group gave me a great amount of support, on various levels. I will always be thankful for the extremely important role the group has played in my life and my recovery. (B)
