The Grandparents Support Group meets in Milton Keynes, started with just a couple of Grandparents and have grown ever since.  Some of Grandparents are unable to attend weekly meetings, because of work, childcare commitments, distance or lack of transport and so during school holidays we organise sharing events such as bowling and picnics, which enable those Grandparents and Grandchildren to participate. Support group operates in Hents Hill Community Centre, Milton Keynes on Tuesdays 10.00am – 12 noon (term-time only). Their aims are: • To provide a support group for Grandparents who find themselves the main carers of their Grandchildren. • To provide support to Grandparents and other Kinship Carers experiencing or having experienced Court Proceedings for Special Guardianship, Care, Residence or Contact Orders. • To help Grandchildren come to terms with being cared for by Grandparents. • To share experiences. • To help Carers realise that they are not on their own. • To support other family members (Kinship Carers) caring for a relative’s child such as an Aunt/Uncle caring for a Niece/Nephew.
