Safe Haven COVID-19 Update
In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic we at Buckinghamshire Mind are closely following the Government’s guidelines on health and safety measures regarding social distancing. As such we have made important changes to our services to ensure the safety of our service users, volunteers and staff. To ensure the safety of all, we have removed the aspects of this service that involves face-to-face groups and/or one-to-one meetings.
We are, however, continuing to deliver our Safe Haven service by offering telephone and video calls.
Please see details below on how to access and refer to the service.
What we do
Safe Haven is a mental health crisis support service operating from 6pm – midnight, for anyone living in Buckinghamshire aged 18 years or over. We provide listening support and signposting, and we also work with our service users to create safety plans if they are struggling to keep themselves safe due to thoughts of self-harm or of ending their life.
How we work
We are able to offer a 30-minute conversation allowing people to talk openly about how they are feeling and, to build trusting relationships with supportive members of staff, without the fear of being judged. We work with our service users in a very empathetic and genuine way, no matter what the crisis is.
We support people to manage their mental health better, to understand where to go for help in their local community, but most importantly to feel safer. We work collaboratively with our service users to empower them, but we also offer reassurance in that we continue to be here seven nights a week, should they need us.
There is no limit to how many nights a service user can call us, although we would only be able to offer one call per evening.
Safe Haven is staffed by Bucks Mind workers, although we work in partnership with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust who provide clinical input when needed.
Who we work with
The service is open to all Buckinghamshire residents aged 18 years and over. You do not need to have previously accessed any mental health services prior to contacting us.
Unfortunately, we would not be able support callers if they are intoxicated or have any immediate physical health needs.
How to access the service
We are here seven evenings a week from 6.00pm – midnight. We would kindly ask that any calls to Safe Haven are made by 11.00pm, to allow us enough time to accommodate you.
Please note, we will ask you for some brief contact details when you first call us.
To contact Safe Haven Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday please call 01296 453017.

We would encourage self-referrals where possible. However, if you are a professional and would like to make a referral into the service please email us at: email@example.com
