The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (11-17 May) is: Action. So, we’re asking all the members of our community, what action will you take during this important awareness week?
Here are some of our suggestions.
I will call a friend to ask how they are
It can be very difficult to see someone who you care about struggling, but you don’t need to be an expert on mental health to offer support. Often small, everyday actions can make the biggest difference.
If you know someone has been unwell, don’t be afraid to ask how they are. They might want to talk about it, or they might not. But just letting them know they don’t have to avoid the issue with you is important. Spending time with your loved one lets them know you care and can help you understand what they’re going through.

I will give my time as a volunteer
Volunteers are essential to Buckinghamshire Mind’s work, enabling us to provide more vital, life-changing services to people experiencing mental health problems in Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire. We could not achieve all that we do to support people’s mental health without the involvement and huge contribution of our volunteers.
So, please join us today and be part of the Bucks Mind team providing encouragement, motivation and meaningful connections with people. Please click on the button below to find out more.

I will take part in Bucks Mind’s social media campaign
We’re asking everyone to write down on a piece of paper what action they will take for Mental Health Awareness Week and then take a photo of themselves holding up the paper. Then, post the photo on your social media platforms with the hastags #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and #BucksMind. Please don’t forget to tag @bucksmind when you post, so that we can like, comment and share. Together, we can reach more people to help raise awareness of mental health and Bucks Mind’s vital services.
