Bucks Mind is calling for volunteers to help deliver our vital Befriending service.

Befriending currently has a large number of new referrals that we are unable to support due to lack of volunteer Befrienders. Can you help, please?

Befriending at Bucks Mind involves meeting or calling and supporting someone once a week for around six months. Our service users will usually have some anxiety and low mood and possibly other challenges too. Befriending is about providing boundaries and support. You will start a short-term relationship to help individuals to build confidence and self-esteem and also reduce isolation. It may just be about having a chat and a cup of tea!

Bucks Mind works with anyone over 18 years and tries to use each volunteer’s skills and experience to benefit the service user.

If you would like to apply, please complete the application form and we will contact you to discuss the next steps. This will include a meeting with a Befriending Coordinator to get to know you, completion of a DBS and a request for references.

We provide our volunteers with regular training and development sessions as ongoing support. We recognise that our volunteers’ mental health is as important as the mental health of the people we support.
